The following is a summary of what we have coming up over the next three months at NSAI Charlotte.
As always, our meetings are held at The Well, in Pineville, NC 28134, with Susan hosting. Our meeting times are from 7:00 pm to approximately 9:30 p.m. They are held the second Tuesday of every month.
Tuesday, March 14th, will be our kick-off to Spring song circle! Winter is over and it is time to celebrate Spring with our kick-off to Spring song circle. If when we go around the circle, you would like to have your song critiqued just let us know before hand and bring copies of your lyrics for members to follow along while you perform.
Tuesday, April 11th, we are so lucky in that Fiona will be teaching her specialty, Music Theory, to the group this month. This is something that Fiona normally does every year, however, last year filled up before it got on our calendar, so be sure not to miss this very important lesson, because you will leave with at least one tip you did not know before the beginning of the evening!
Tuesday, May 9th, have you ever sat in on a concert whether big or small and thought that sounded great? Every song flowed and everything they said was clever and engaging? Or have you thought, all of these songs sound exactly alike? And I sure wish this guy or girl would stop talking and just play? Getting your playlist in the proper order to flow is important! Knowing what to say and not say is important! It doesn’t just happen…it takes some work to make it look like you haven’t worked at it! And Glenn Selby is going to show us what he has taught some of our other popular members like The Caroline Keller Band (YAY!) and Laura Rabel (YAY!), about playlist and talking in front of an audience.
The second half of our meetings are always set aside for member’s song critiques, so be sure to bring 25 copies of your songs if you’d like to have a song critiqued.
As with all of our meetings, please feel free to bring family and friends. We provide snacks for free and drinks are available for a donation of your choosing. We hope you go home having learned something, shared some music, been heard, and feel better than when you arrived. If you’re in a group and not having fun…you’re not at a NSAI Charlotte meeting.
Looking ahead to the rest of the year: Julie will be teaching on writing for your voice; Fiona will be teaching on how to write plots for your songs; Steve Simpson will be teaching advance songwriting using Imagery; at much demand we will be bringing Tony Thomas back to teach a lesson, and so much more!!!
See you on the second Tuesday’s of the month!
